I'm not sure my screen name should still be odypilots, since I've now got a BRIGGSBUILT GENERATION 4! Well, with a different powerplant, installed by K-fab of yellowdogracing.com, that is.
He dropped in a 2007 Yamaha Phazer engine. 500cc's of high reving 4 stroke power. Rated at 80 hp, it's plenty to scoot this buggy right along. I've always been a 2 stroke guy, and I'm not getting rid of my 2 stroke Pilots, but I love this engine. The increase in gas mileage alone is huge.
The removal of the need for re jetting the carb(s) because of the fuel injection is another great benefit of this switch. The Briggs originally came with a "built to the absolute edge" 350 Odyssey engine. Constant re builds to to the high state of tune made that engine unattractive to K-fab, along with the need for race fuel and pre mixing oil in the gas.
While K-fab still owned it, I raced against this car, and with his buddy driving it, it just pulled away from my 600 Pilot. When it became available, I approached my wife about getting it, and she said YES!
